Last night, Grímur Hákonarson’s film Rams captured the grand prix, the Golden Angel of the TofifestInternational Film Festival in Torun, Poland, RÚV reports. Selecting Rams as the winner of the main competition was the unanimous decision of the international selection committee. Never before has the Tofifest main prize been awarded to both the producer and the director of the winning film.
The movie has previously won awards in Cannes; the Hamptons, New York; Cluj-Napoca, Romania; Palić, Serbia; and Zürich, making it, in Variety’s opinion, “Iceland’s strongest shot at a foreign-language Oscar nomination since Fridrik Thor Fridriksson’s 1991 ‘Children of Nature’”, according to Iceland Review.
