Don’t throw the language out with the bathwater
"Greenland has a language problem, and it must be dealt with."
- Strengthening the Greenlandic language is a worthwhile goal, but it should not come at the expense of Danish and English at a time when both are more important than ever before, Michael Keldsen wrtites in The Arctic Journal:
"Many young Greenlanders to apply to study at Danish educational institutions, but what many schools are now finding is a declining level of Danish among applicants with Greenlandic-speaking parents, and that we are approaching the point where Greenlandic applicants lack both the Danish and the English skills are able to complete an education in Denmark."
