Nord University email hacked by Russian group
A Russian hacker group with alleged ties to the state has tried to hack an email belonging to a former Nord University domain.
The Norwegian Police Security Service recently confirmed that a Russian hacker group with alleged ties to the state had tried to hack an email belonging to a Norwegian university, according to Norwegian daily VG. It has now been confirmed that the university in question was Nord University, according to Khrono.
Rector Bjørn Olsen of Nord University says the attempt at hacking was aimed at an email account that has been abandoned since 2011.
-Fortunately, this email did not represent a genuine risk as it was sent to the old domain. Nevertheless, we are sorry to have been exposed to this attempt in the first place, he says.
Nord University’s Business School has several programs in which it cooperates with Russian and Ukrainian actors.
