Wind Turbines Close to People Are Better for Nature, Confirms New Norwegian Report
Greater loss of untouched nature and biodiversity will follow if wind turbines are built in places that are out of sight for people. In other words, it is better for nature if wind farms are placed close to inhabited areas. This is stated in a new report from the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research, Statistics Norway, the Institute for Energy Technology, and the consulting firm Menon, reports NRK.
"We want electricity, but not to live next to windmills," says Elisabeth Gammelsæter in an earlier interview with High North News. She has written a book about the nimby phenomenon (Not in My Back Yard).
