Wants to Sell Royal Greenland
A report about privatising businesses in Greenland that are owned by the self-rule authorities argues that Royal Greenland should be sold, according to Sermitsiaq. The report was written by a secretariat under the auspices of the self-rule authorities’ premier, Kim Kielsen.
Selling the entire company might bring a one-off revenue of DKK 2.5-5 million.
Royal Greenland has some 1,400 employees and is the largest publicly owned employer in Greenland. The company has delivered three-figured million DKK profits for the past few years.
The report expects a consolidation of the fish industry in the next 5-10 years and argues that the self-rule authorities might keep a significant minority share of the company, in order to make sure relevant public social responsibility issues are addressed in the future too.
