Trump Will Announce 25 Percent Steel and Aluminum Tariffs
On Monday, Trump is set to announce 25 percent tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the United States. That is reported by several news outlets.
Trump did not provide any details about how expansive the new tariffs would be or when they may go into effect, according to CNN.
On Monday, the European Commission said they had not received any official notification regarding the imposition of additional tariffs on EU goods.
"We will not respond to broad announcements without details or written clarification. The EU sees no justification for the imposition of tariffs on its exports. We will react to protect the interests of European businesses, workers and consumers from unjustified measures," the statement reads.
The action would be the latest trade escalation by the US President.
The US recently imposed ten percent tariffs on all Chinese goods imported to the US. China has retaliated with tariffs on certain US goods. Trump has also announced tariffs on neighboring countries Canada and Mexico, but has agreed to pause the tariffs for 30 days.
