Trump considers Eni bid for Arctic Drilling

Eni has requested exploring for oil in the Beaufort Sea north of Alaska, and the Interior Department is now weighing the request.

According to Bloomberg, the exploration well would be in an area not covered by former President Obama’s Executive Order from last December, as the area was previously leased from the federal government.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is now conducting an initial, 15-day review of the Eni blueprint. Eni said it is planning to begin drilling by the end of the year.
