Strong Nordic Support for Ukraine
Today, PM Jonas Gahr Støre hosted a Nordic-Ukrainian summit in Oslo. Prime ministers from Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden, and the Finnish President gave the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj promises of continued strong support for Ukraine.
After the meeting, the Nordic leaders gave a joint statement, where they promised continued political, financial, humanitarian, and military support.
"After facing Russia’s aggression for almost ten years, including more than 650 days of full-scale war, Ukraine continues to demonstrate extraordinary determination in exercising its inherent right of self-defense," the statement reads.
In a press release, the leaders also emphasize that international pressure, including sanctions, must be increased and any loop-holes closed. There can be no impunity for violations of international humanitarian law and all individuals responsible for such violations and abuses of human rights must be held accountable.
