Streamlining snow crab catching regulations

The Norwegian Fisheries Ministry has started streamlining regulations for snow crab fishing.

While today a special dispensation is required to catch snow crab, the new regulations will replace this with a slightly different regime in which the access to dispensation is made easier, provided certain criteria are met.

- This streamlining helps tidying up the regulations for snow crab catching. Now these regulations will be streamlined in accordance with traditional regulations of fishing and catching. It will also facilitate a later tightening of regulations regarding who may catch snow crab, if that should become necessary, says Fisheries Minister Harald T. Nesvik.
