Russia Names Arctic Islands and Peninsulas
A series of formerly unnamed islands and peninsulas in the Russian Arctic have now been named, according to Russian authorities.
Many of these islands and peninsulas are located in the skerries around Novaya Semlya. Many of them have appeared in recent years following glaciers and ice melting and withdrawing.
The formerly unknown islands and peninsulas have been discovered by scientific expeditions and have now been named after Russian hydrographers.
