"The Relationship Between Finland and Russia Is Worse Than During The Cold War", says Niinistö
The trust between Finland and Russia is gone, and the relationship between the countries is now 'worse than during the cold war', said the Finnish President Sauli Niinistö at Tuesday's press conference in connection to the Ambassadors Days in Finland, writes Yle.
Although the channels of communication to the Russian side is not actively in use, it is still important to maintain them, said Niinistö.
"There are many Russians residing in Finland. We condemn Russia's warfare and those who support it, but hatred is another matter. We can defend our assessments and our security without hatred," said the president.
