Public Hearing on Kven and Sami Names for Norway

The Norwegian government yesterday announced a hearing on approving of Sami and Kven names for Norway. Three different Sami languages as well as Kven (originating from Finnish) names are included in the proposal.

The proposal is announced during the Sami Language Week. The language week is to contribute to furthering the status of Sami languages and increase knowledge about these languages in society.

The hearing deadline is 22. January 2021.
