One Dead After Ice Cave Collapse in Iceland

Two tourists remain trapped in a collapsed ice cave in Iceland, as a third was pronounced dead at the scene, reports RUV.

The search for two tourists missing after an ice cave collapsed on Breiðamerkurjökull Sunday has been postponed.

A third tourist was pronounced dead at the scene according to information from police, but the condition of another is said to be stable. He was taken to Landspítali by the helicopter of the Coast Guard.

The police say that the conditions during the search for the two who remain missing became difficult as darkness fell, and therefore it was not considered safe to continue the search overnight.

Foreign tourists of various nationalities were in a group of 25 people visiting an ice cave when the accident happened.
