Number of Females in Greenland’s Politics Dropping

Out of the 189 candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Greenland, 56 are women and 133 are men, according to Sermitsiaq.

The share of women is thus 29,6 percent, a drop of 2,1 percent points when compared to the Inatsisartut elections in 2018, in which women constituted 73 out of 230 candidates.

The Naleraq party has the lowest share of women, with 26 out of 30 candidates being male. The Demokraatit party has the highest share of women amongst is candidates, with 10 out of 22. The parties Siumut and Inuit Ataqatigiit have the highest number of women on their lists, with 16 each out of a total of 43 and 60 candidates, respectively.
