The Norwegian corvette KNM "Storm" has been monitoring three Russian vessels from the Baltic Fleet sailing west of Norway in recent days.

This is revealed in a press release from the Norwegian Armed Forces on Monday.

The Russian voyage took place in international waters, and is considered so far to have taken place in a safe manner, the message states.

"The Russian navy has now started exercise Okean. The exercise results in increased activity from both the Northern Fleet and the Baltic Fleet in our immediate areas, in addition to long-range aircraft, says Vice Admiral Rune Andersen, head of the Norwegian Armed Forces' operational headquarters (FOH).

"We were prepared for this, and we have planned to follow Russian movements together with our allies", adds Andersen.
