No Obstacle for New Mines in Greenland
The zero-tolerance law on uranium and other radioactive materials will not represent an obstacle to the planned mine at Kringlerne in Greenland, according to Sermitsiaq.
Tanbreez can still realize its plans about extracting rare minerals in Southern Greenland, says Naalakkersuisoq (Minister) for Raw Materials Naaja Nathanielsen, according to the paper.
“That can easily be done. Given the knowledge we have now, Tanbreez will not exceed the limit for nuclear content. The company already has an exploitation license”, she says.
There are also plans about a new anorthosite mine at Qeqertarsuatsiaat, as well as plans for a gold mine in Southern Greenland. 3-4 mines are expected to be established within the next five years.
