The world’s first icebreaking LNG tanker “Christophe de Margerie” is heading towards Kirkenes, Norway after sailing along the Norwegian coast.
The 299 metres long ship comes from Zeebrugge, Belgium, and his heading for Kirkenes with a crew of 65, according to Nordlys.
According to LNG World News, the Cyprus-registered ship will be able to operate in temperatures down to 52 subzero degrees Celsius, and in areas with ice up to seven feet thick.
“Christophe de Margerie” is under contract to operate under the LNG project on the Yamal peninsula in Russia.
