New agreement with China could benefit Greenlandic export

A new agreement between Denmark and China will facilitate the export of Greenlandic fish to the Chinese market.

The new agreement was signed in Beijing, according to Sermitsiaq.

The Greenlandic export almost exclusively consists of fish and shrimp (84% in total). The Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Jacob Jensen, says the agreement has the potential to increase the export of Greenlandic fish to the Chinese market.

Previously, every species had to be approved separately before being exported to China. This was a long and complicated process that is no longer necessary.

"This is an excellent opportunity for the Greenlandic community, so as a minister, I am pleased on behalf of the entire kingdom, says Jacob Jensen to Ritzau.
