- The MFA Monitors the ‘Akademik Lomonosov’ Case Closely
The planned haul of the nuclear power plant "Akademik Lomonosov" was among the topics discussed when the Norwegian-Russian Nuclear Safety Commission met on Wednesday.
- The Foreign Minister expressed the Norwegian concerns regarding a potential sea haul of the Russian nuclear power plant "Akademik Lomonosov" along the Norwegian coast to Director of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev, Norwegian State Secretary Marit Berger Røsland says to High North News.
Børge Brende and Likhachev met during an event marking the first shipping of used nuclear fuel from the Andrejev Bay in Russia.
- They had a good dialogue about different solutions, and it was underlined that the Russians have not made a final decision on the matter yet. That is positive in and of itself, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the case closely, Berger Røsland emphasizes.
She adds that the Commission meeting in Kirkenes this Wednesday confirmed the close and good dialogue between Norwegian and Russian authorities on this matter.
- We see that the Russian side desires professional input from us, and we will facilitate that, says the Norwegian MFA State Secretary.
