Major Lack of Labor in Greenland in Health and Care Services

Last week, Greenland's government, Naalakkersuisut, and all mayors met for a political coordination group to discuss societal challenges within health and care services, social issues, the environment, business, and the job market.

"One of the major topics discussed was the serious lack of labor, which particularly impacts our senior, residential, and children's institutions. This is a challenge that several municipalities want to deal with, as they are forced to recruit foreign labor," says Jess Svane, the chairman of the coordination group and Minister of Social Welfare, Family, Labour and Interior.

"We must find solutions to ensure all citizens the necessary support and care. We need all hands in society. By getting more people to work and supporting them, we can better handle the challenges and ensure a sustainable future for our country," continues Svane.

The politicians agreed at the meeting to map the situation further with a particular view of which areas are under the most pressure.
