Iceland Nearing 400,000 Inhabitants

A forecast from 2008 assessed that Iceland would reach 400,000 inhabitants in 2050. Now, it is expected that the island state will reach the milestone already within the next six months.

Only 1,000 inhabitants are missing before Iceland can register a population figure of 400,000. This is reported by the Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsiaq.

Population estimates are based on birth rates, death rates, and migration. Historical developments, such as war and pandemics, can affect development.
