Historical Opening of Arctic Center for Security Studies in Alaska

The US Department of Defence's newest regional center opened in Alaska on Thursday this week.

The so-called Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies is the only one of the Department of Defence's regional centers which specifically focuses on the Arctic. The center will strengthen national and internationals networks of leaders within security, as well as promote and carry out research on Arctic security.

The center is located at the military base Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.
