Fewer babies than ever born in Finland
The number of births in Finland last year was the lowest since the country began keeping records in 1776.
With 43,383 babies born last year, 2023 holds the lowest birth rate in the country's history.
The total fertility rate for 2023 was 1.26 children per woman, according to Statistics Finland.
