Faroe Islands Opens Representative Office In Washington D.C.

On Monday, the Faroese representative office in Washington D.C. officially opened. The Faroese flag Merkið is now flying outside the House of Sweden, which already houses the Swedish and Icelandic embassies.

"Cooperation with the U.S. is of great significance to the government, and the establishment of a representative office in Washington D.C. reflects a clear desire to strengthen the bond between the two countries further," says the Faroese MoD Høgni Hoydal (Tjóðveldi).

The head of the representative office in the U.S. capital is Bjørn Kunoy. He has a background as the Faroese head of the representative office in Moscow from 2015-2018, among other things.
