European rearmament leads to less EU funding for Northern Sweden

Northern Sweden could receive less support as the EU is forced to spend large sums on military and industrial investments, writes SVT Norrbotten.

The Northern Swedish European Office, located in Brussels, works to secure funds for Sweden's four northernmost regions.

The area makes up almost 50 percent of Sweden's land area but has only 8.5 percent of the country's population.

SVT writes that it will be difficult for the regions to receive support now that the EU is being pressured to spend more money on military rearmament. This could ultimately affect the green shift that the region has invested heavily in.
