Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Resigns

On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation.

During a press conference, he said he will step down as prime minister once the party chooses its next leader.

He has led the Liberal Party since 2013 and has been prime minister of Canada since 2015.

Trudeau's government has barely survived a series of no-confidence motions, and the prime minister's popularity has weakened significantly recently, particularly within his own party.
