Armed Man Broke Into Swedish Mining Company
On the night of Thursday 5 September, a masked person, with what appeared to be a firearm, broke into a manned drilling machine at the Per Geijer deposit in the mining company LKAB's mine in Kiruna, northern Sweden. No people were injured.
All work on site was suspended until further notice.
LKAB reports this in a press release.
It was around two or three in the morning that a masked person, carrying what was understood to be a firearm, entered the drilling rig and exposed himself to employees. The Per Geijer deposit consists of significant amounts of iron ore, phosphorus and rare earth metals.
Other observations have been made in the area. The incident was reported to the police and the security police, Säpo.
