Arctic Council Turned 28
19 September marked the 28th anniversary of the Arctic Council, which was established on 19 September 1996. It was the historic Ottawa Declaration that paved the way for Arctic cooperation almost 30 years ago.
To mark the occasion, Chair of the Senior Arctic Officials Morten Høglund from Norway, Canadian Senior Arctic Official Robert Sinclair and the United States' Senior Arctic Official Eric Carlson, met to share highlights from the original declaration that remain "highly important today."
