A narrow majority of Icelanders believe foreign tourists have had a negative impact on the country’s nature, with 51.8 percent of respondents in the latest MMR poll on the subject of tourism believing that, according to Iceland Review.
Overall, however, Icelanders seem pretty positive towards foreign visitors to their country, according to the poll.
90.9 percent of respondents believe that tourists in Iceland are having a positive impact on the national economy, Vísir reports.
Meanwhile, 71.2 percent of respondents feel foreign tourists have a positive impact on Icelandic society and 67.1 percent feel that foreign tourists positively affect the variety of goods and services on offer in the country.
