Norway Establishes Northern Broadband Communication

The Norwegian government has entered into an agreement with Space Norway regarding broadband communication in the high north using satellites.

Poor connectivity in the high north causes challenges to security and preparedness related authority tasks such as sea rescue, oil spill protection, defense and crisis management.

- Norwegian-owned satellite will ensure fast and stable internet connection for those operating in the high north, says Trade Minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen.

Norway and the USA will cooperate, and an agreement on satellite cooperation has been signed by the Norwegian MoD as well as the American MoD.
